Describe an occasion when you saw a child behave badly in public

You should say:
  • Where it happened
  • How the child was misbehaving
  • What other people did (how they reacted)
and explain how it made you feel.

IELTS Speaking Part 2 Sample Answer

Okay, so I'll tell you about the most recent time I saw a child behave badly.

I recall an incident a few months ago at a local supermarket. I was there for my usual weekly grocery shopping when I noticed a young boy, probably around six or seven years old, causing quite a disturbance.

Let me tell you what he was doing. He was running around the aisles, knocking products off the shelves, and even opening a packet of cookies without paying for it. His behavior was disruptive and disrespectful to the supermarket's staff and other customers.

Most people in the supermarket, including me, were taken aback by the child's behavior. An elderly lady tried reprimanding him, but he simply stuck his tongue out at her and continued his antics.

The store manager eventually approached the child but was met with a defiant attitude. The situation escalated when the child's mother finally intervened, but rather than disciplining him, she defended his actions, claiming he was just being playful.

How did I feel about it? This incident left me feeling quite frustrated and disappointed. As an educator, I felt disheartened to see such poor manners in a young child.

And the mother's lack of discipline and accountability made me feel concerned about the kind of adult this child would grow into.

The entire experience reminded me of how vital the important qualities of good parenting and instilling respect for others from a young age are.

It also made me appreciate the challenges educators and parents face in managing behavior and teaching young children the difference between right and wrong.

Describe a faraway country you would like to visit

You should say:
  • Where it is
  • How you first learned about it
  • What makes it special
and why it appeals to you as a travel destination.

IELTS Speaking Part 2 Sample Answer

I've always been intrigued by the allure of Japan, an island nation in the Far East. Nestled between the North Pacific and the Sea of Japan, this cultural gem first captured my interest when I was a child, watching anime shows on television.

These beautifully crafted animations depicted a land with an irresistible blend of tradition and modernity, and I was instantly hooked.

Japan's singularity lies in its ability to seamlessly blend centuries-old traditions with cutting-edge technology.

On one hand, you have historic temples, meticulously maintained gardens and the art of tea ceremonies.

On the other hand, there are high-speed bullet trains, towering skyscrapers, and advanced robotics.

This harmonious fusion of the old and new is truly captivating to me.

What really sets Japan apart, though, is its people and their ethos. The Japanese are renowned for their hospitality, craftsmanship, and commitment to perfection, reflected in everything they do, from their food preparation to their public transportation system. They also seem to love to wear uniforms.

I'm particularly drawn to their approach to food, where each dish is a work of art and perfection in flavor is passionately pursued.

Moreover, the country's natural beauty is breathtakingly diverse. One can marvel at the cherry blossoms in spring, hike up Mt. Fuji in summer, admire the colorful leaves in autumn, and enjoy snowboarding in winter. It's like a real-life paradise that changes with every season.

For these reasons and more, Japan holds a top spot on my list of dream destinations. I yearn to experience its unique culture, taste its exquisite cuisine, and immerse myself in its beautiful landscapes.

Japan, to me, is a mesmerizing blend of tradition and innovation, somewhere ancient customs thrive in a modern world.

Describe an activity that made you feel tired.

  • What was the activity?
  • When and where did you do it?
  • How did it make you feel tired?
and explain what you learned from this activity.

IELTS Speaking Part 2 Sample Answer

The activity that springs to mind when I think about something that left me feeling utterly exhausted was the time I decided to hike up the famous Blue Mountains during my trip to Australia last summer.

It was mid-July, and we were in New South Wales. I am generally a fitness enthusiast, but I had never attempted mountain hiking before.

Honestly, the sheer physical exertion of the trek was something I had underestimated. It was a steep climb, and halfway through, my legs started shaking, and my heart was pounding like a drum, but the allure of the breathtaking view from the top kept me going.

I recall the sense of achievement I felt when we finally reached the peak after nearly five gruelling hours, but along with that was an overwhelming wave of fatigue. I had never felt so drained before, both physically and mentally.

The experience, albeit demanding, taught me numerous lessons. Firstly, it underscored the importance of preparation. I realized that even though I considered myself fit, there was a lack of specific fitness training for this particular activity.

Secondly, it highlighted the power of mental endurance. There were numerous moments during the climb when I felt like giving up, but my determination kept me going.

And finally, it made me appreciate the serenity and beauty of nature. Despite the exhaustion, the panoramic view from the top was nothing short of spectacular, which was a rewarding end to an arduous journey.

On reflection, it was an incredibly enriching experience that challenged me and helped me grow in many ways.

Talk about how technology can strengthen family relationships

You should say:
  • What the technology is
  • Its benefits
  • How it improves family relationships
And explain how your own family has benefited from technology.

IELTS Speaking Part 2 Sample Answer

Well, technology has definitely strengthened my family relationships and it's really amazing how much of a difference it's made. My family is spread out all over the world, so having access to video calling applications like Skype and Zoom has allowed us to stay connected despite long distances. It's great because we can easily catch up with each other without having to travel for hours.

Also, technology makes it easier for us to share photos and videos with each other through social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. This way we can keep everyone in the loop about what's happening in our lives -- which certainly helps strengthen our bonds!

Lastly, I think that technologies such as online gaming have been especially beneficial for my family since we can all play together, no matter where we are. This has allowed us to bond over shared interests and events in a way that was not possible before.

So overall, I'd say that technology has had an overwhelmingly positive effect on my family's relationships and it's definitely made staying connected much easier for us all. Plus, it's nice to know that we have this kind of technology available now if ever need it!

Oh! And let's not forget that technology has enabled us to keep in touch with distant relatives and friends, too! That's been especially helpful for my family.

So yeah, I'd definitely say that technology has helped to strengthen our family relationships. It's really amazing how much it's changed things for the better.

IELTS Speaking Part 2

Describe a movie that disappointed you

You should say:
- the name of the movie
- why you watched it
- what happened in the movie
And explain how the movie disappointed you.

IELTS Speaking Part 2 Sample Answer

I recently watched the movie, 'The King's Speech', expecting it to be a well-crafted, inspiring masterpiece. It had been highly acclaimed and had earned several awards, so I was expecting it to be a great movie.

I decided to watch the movie mainly because of its popularity and the awards it had won. I heard that it was an inspiring story about a stammering king who overcomes adversity by finding his voice. It seemed like a powerful story that I wanted to learn more about, so I decided to give it a try.

Unfortunately, the movie ended up being a huge disappointment. The premise was strong, but the execution was quite poor, and it seemed like the production team had rushed through parts of the storyline. The acting was nothing special either, and the characters felt quite one-dimensional. Furthermore, there were a few plot holes that detracted from the overall story. For example, the King's wife was shown to be supportive and encouraging, but then she suddenly became disinterested in his progress.

Overall, I was disappointed by 'The King's Speech'. It had so much potential to be a fantastic movie, but unfortunately, it fell short of my expectations. The story was weak, and the characters felt underdeveloped. It's a shame because it had so much potential, but in the end, it just failed to deliver. Despite winning awards, it was quite an underwhelming experience.

I won't be watching this movie again anytime soon!

Describe a recent development in your city

You should say:
- what it is
- where it is
- how long it took from start to finish
And explain how you feel about it.

IELTS Speaking Part 2 Sample Answer

Well, a recent development in my city that I'm very excited about is the construction of an eco-friendly park. The park is in the heart of the downtown area, right beside the city hall building, and it's been an incredible transformation. I mean, a few months ago it was just an empty lot, but now it's a vibrant green space for us to enjoy.

The park is filled with native plants, and the pathways are made from recycled materials. It's also a great place to get some exercise since it includes running tracks, basketball courts, and a children's playground. One of the most exciting features for me is that it also includes solar panels, so it produces renewable energy to help power the city.

The park is beautiful and an incredible addition to the neighborhood. It's become a popular spot for people to come together, whether it's for picnics or just to relax and enjoy the fresh air. Everyone I know loves it and is so appreciative of this new space. It's also a great spot to take a break from the hustle and bustle of city life – it makes me feel so relaxed and at home.

What I love most about it is that it's such a diverse space – people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities can come together and enjoy the park. It's also really sustainable, with a range of energy-saving features including water conservation systems, LED lights, and wind turbines. There's also a lot of wildlife in the park, so it's a great place to watch birds or take part in nature walks.

Overall, it's a beautiful place that offers a much-needed escape from the city. And I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful place to relax and enjoy nature.

And so that's a recent development in my city and what I think about it and how I feel about it.

Describe someone you know who dresses well

You should say:
- Who this person is
- What their style is like
- Why you think they dress well
And explain why you like the way this person dresses.

IELTS Speaking Part 2 Sample Answer

I know loads of people who dress well, but one of the best-dressed people I know is my friend Jenn. Her iconic style consists of modern, minimalist silhouettes and bold statement pieces that she wears in surprising combinations. She always looks so put-together and professional but still manages to look fashion-forward. Her color pallets are mainly neutrals, but she spices them up with a pop of color here and there.

I admire how Jenn dresses because she has a real eye for detail. She knows how to pick out pieces of clothing that flatter her figure and silhouettes that accentuate her body shape. She can also pull together different colors and textures for an overall look that is cohesive and stylish. And she is an expert at mixing fashion with function, as she almost always looks polished yet comfortable. I think this shows that she is confident.

I'm hoping to visit Canada next year, and I know Jenn would be an amazing resource for me because she's been living there for the last few decades. She knows all the best places to shop, dine, and be entertained. She also has excellent advice on where to stay and what activities to do.

But more than that, I look up to Jenn because of her style. She can make the simplest outfit look incredible and always knows how to accessorize. She also has a well-developed eye for interior design, and she always knows what colors and patterns would look best in a space.

I'm still not sure where she gets her talent from, but when I need fashion advice or design tips, Jenn's the first person I go to. I know that she'll be able to show me the best places to shop and advise me on what items would look good together. Her style sense is unparalleled, and I'm always impressed by her choices!

Describe a childhood friend

You should say:
- who they were
- where you met them
- what you did together
And explain what made your childhood friend special.

IELTS Speaking Part 2 Sample Answer

My childhood friend was someone I met in secondary school. It was actually quite a surprise to me because we had very different backgrounds and upbringings. We came from completely different circles but somehow ended up becoming the best of friends.

His name was Peter, and he lived on the other side of town. He wasn't particularly well off, but he had a great sense of humour and was always making jokes. We'd often go to the park after school and stay until late in the evening. I used to think that our friendship was like chalk and cheese - we were so different, yet still managed to click. It made me realise that you don't need to be the same to be friends.

We did a lot of different things together, like playing sports, hanging out with our other friends, watching movies and going on trips together. But the thing I enjoyed most was when we'd just talk and share stories about each other's lives. It was amazing how even after being so different, we still had so many things in common. I'll always cherish the moments we spent together and I'm thankful for having such an awesome friend like him.

He's since moved away, but we still stay in touch through social media and video calls. We both miss the times we had together and hope to be able to see each other soon. Although there is distance between us, our friendship remains strong, and we continue to stay connected. He has taught me so much about life, and I am incredibly grateful for his friendship.

Describe something special you brought home from a holiday

You should say:
- What it was
- Where and when you bought it
- Why you bought it
And explain why it is special to you.

IELTS Speaking Part 2 Sample Answer

I recently brought home something special from a holiday to Thailand in August 2022. I bought a hand-carved wooden Buddha statue from a small shop near the Grand Palace in Bangkok.

I was drawn to it because of its intricate details and fascinating craftsmanship. I knew it would make a great addition to my home décor in Canada. When I brought it back, I gave it to my older sister as a gift. She was ecstatic to receive it, and I'm sure she will always cherish it as a reminder of our home country.

The whole family gathered around to admire the statue, and it quickly became a topic of conversation at our dinner table. We talked about how much effort went into carving it, about the significance of Buddha in Thai culture, and how I came across this particular piece. Everyone was amazed by its beauty, and my sister was very proud to have it in her home.

The statue serves as a reminder of my hometown and all the wonderful memories I had living there. Every time I look at it, I'm reminded of my culture and the people who shaped me into who I am today. It's a great conversation starter, and I'm sure it will be a topic of discussion in our home for many years to come.

I love the statue so much that it has become a part of my daily routine - admiring it. Whenever people come over to my house, they're always drawn to it and ask me about it. I'm always more than happy to tell them the story of how I got it, and about my hometown, which many people have never heard of before.

I think it's something special that bridges my two cultures together and helps me to stay connected with my roots. It's also a great way for me to share my past experiences with my friends, and to remember the good times of my childhood.

I'm also really proud of the fact that it was handmade, using traditional techniques from my hometown that have been passed down through generations.

And, so that's something special that I brought home from a holiday.

Describe a leisure activity that you did when you were young

You should say:
- what it was
- where you did this activity
- who you did it with
And explain why you enjoyed doing it.

IELTS Speaking Part 2 Sample Answer

When I was young, my favorite leisure activity was horse riding at the local stables. On a typical day in the hot weather of my hometown, many people would go to a crowded place like the local shopping mall. But, I would find solace in the stables tucked away in a quiet part of the city. Horse riding was a fantastic way to get some good exercise while having a fun time with my friends. I really miss it nowadays and look forward to doing it again one day.

I first started riding horses when I was about 10 years old. My parents took me to the local stables and introduced me to a beautiful thoroughbred horse called Daisy. We went for a few lessons, and I quickly fell in love with the activity - it was invigorating to be on top of such a powerful animal and to be able to control it with just a few commands. I used to go back every weekend and take lessons, eventually becoming an experienced rider.

Riding horses is a great way to build confidence and develop physical and mental strength. I learned a lot from my time horseriding, from balancing and controlling the horse to persevering even when things got tough. You get a sense of freedom from riding horses, and I think it's a great way to unwind from the stresses of everyday life.

It was also a fantastic opportunity to bond with the horse. I'd spend a lot of time grooming and caring for my horse, which really helped to develop an emotional connection between us. I believe that developing this connection is essential to be a successful horse rider, and I was very lucky to have such a wonderful animal.

The strength and agility I gained while riding horses were also very beneficial. Riding teaches you a lot about mental and physical control - you need to be strong and in control, while riding a horse, as this is the only way to ensure you remain safe. It's quite an incredible feeling when you can trust your horse, as it gives you a sense of freedom while teaching you how to be responsible.

Riding horses has been such a rewarding experience for me, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to be physically and mentally challenged.

So, horse riding was a leisure activity that I did when I was young, and thoroughly enjoyed it for years.

You should say:
- who they are
- what makes them influential
- how people can learn from their example
And explain why you think they are popular.

IELTS Speaking Part 2 Sample Answer

Well, when it comes to an influential role model in my country, nothing beats our beloved Prime Minister. He's super popular right now and is always making headlines. He's a great example of someone who has achieved success through hard work and dedication, which is why so many people look up to him. People also appreciate his charisma, intelligence, and dedication to the country's progress. There's no denying that he's an inspirational leader.

The Prime Minister isn't the only role model in my country though. Plenty of people have made a name for themselves in the public eye, like popular singers and actors. These people are loved not just for their talent but also for their commitment to their fans and the community at large. They take every opportunity to give back and don't forget where they came from. This is what makes them such great role models too.

A role model doesn’t have to be famous either - they can be anyone who has made a positive impact in your life. It could be an athlete, an artist, or even a teacher in school. Even if it’s just one person, it can be an incredibly powerful source of inspiration and motivation to strive for greatness. Everyone needs a role model in their life that they can look up to, and this role model should be someone you can identify with.

By having a good role model, you’ll be encouraged to take initiative and put yourself out there. This can be anything from challenging yourself to try a new sport or hobby or pursuing a new academic goal. You’ll be inspired to keep striving for improvement and won’t feel afraid of taking risks or making mistakes.

Having a role model also reminds you to stay humble and grounded, even when life gets tough. They can be an example of how to handle any situation with grace and strength.

At the end of the day, no matter who it is, having a role model is beneficial as it gives you something to strive for and reminds us to stay motivated, brave, and kind.

IELTS Speaking Part 2 Questions and Answers

Talk about a time when you had an unusual meal

You should say:
- where you had this meal
- what made it unusual
- what you ate
And explain how you felt about the experience.

IELTS Speaking Part 2 Sample Answer

I'll tell you about an unusual meal at a restaurant in Thailand. The restaurant was called "Snake Alley" and it specialized in dishes made with snake meat. I tried some of the more popular dishes, like snake soup and stir-fried snake with vegetables.

The experience was definitely unique and I'm glad I ordered the "snake soup" - it was really different - and a little bit intimidating! I know it sounds strange, but the soup tasted surprisingly good. It had a slight sweetness to it, which I really enjoyed.

The friend who was with me tried the stir-fried snake. It was also really good and slightly spicy. I was surprised by how tender the meat was, considering it came from a snake. I’m not sure if I would ever eat snake again, but it was definitely an interesting experience that I won't forget.

I was a little nervous at first, but the meal ended up being really fun and memorable. I learned that snake meat is actually quite popular in Thailand and is considered a delicacy. It's a unique experience that I'm sure not many people have had the chance to enjoy. Not only did I get to try something really different, but I also got to learn more about the culture of Thailand and its cuisine. All in all, I'm glad I was brave enough to try it!

Apart from trying new food, I also got to explore the city and enjoy the sights and sounds of Bangkok. From the ornate temples to bustling street markets, there was something interesting to see everywhere I went. I even got to take a boat ride along the Chao Phraya river and watch the sun set over the city. It was a truly magical experience that I will never forget.

So, that day at the restaurant was a time when I had an unusual meal that I'll never forget - but I'm glad I tried it. I've tried other Thai food since then but nothing as unusual as the snake soup.

Talk about an environmental problem you heard about in a news story recently

You should say:
- What the problem was
- Where it happened
- How you found out about it
- And explain how you reacted to the news.

IELTS Speaking Part 2 Sample Answer

I recently read a news story about how some family members are helping to address environmental problems in a local community. Apparently, with the help of modern technology like crowdfunding platforms, they were able to pool enough money together to finance a project that will have a positive effect on the environment. The story really inspired me and got me thinking about what I can do to help out.

Let me tell you about the project reported in the news story. The families involved in the project have come together to purchase some land, and then with the help of local governments and volunteer work, they plan to create a small forest. The goal of the project is to reduce air pollution and create a protected area for local animals and plants.

Of course, this project requires a lot of planning and hard work. But I believe it's a worthwhile goal to aim for - it's a positive change for the local community. Not only will the project bring benefits to the environment, but it may also create opportunities for employment and education in the area.

I plan to take part in the project with some good friends by volunteering to help with basic tasks such as tree planting, weeding, and clearance. By helping out, I hope to contribute to making this initiative a success. I also want to learn more about the local environment and build relationships with people in the community.

And I'd like to use my knowledge and experience in marketing. I believe one of the most impactful things I can do is to spread awareness about such environmental issues.

For example, I'm considering writing a blog post about the positive changes the local government is making to reduce its carbon footprint. By spreading awareness of these initiatives, I can help encourage others to do their part as well.

Another thing I can do is start a petition for people in my community to sign. This will show our local government that we are serious about environmental issues and need to take action now. I can also use the petition as a starting point for community-wide discussions about the current state of our environment and what we can do to improve it.

So, thanks to that news story, I plan to volunteer my time to help my local government reduce its carbon footprint and protect the environment. I'll look into ways I can become involved in existing initiatives or come up with other ideas to help.

She’s this incredible mix of old-fashioned values and contemporary style. She always wears the most gorgeous vintage dresses with her black Doc Martens boots – it looks so cool. And she loves technology – every time I visit, she’s got a new gadget or app she’s learning to use.

Agnes has the most amazing stories too. She loves to talk about her life, especially when she was young. It’s like stepping into another world. She talks about things that don’t exist anymore and it’s absolutely fascinating. Her memories are so vivid, and she remembers every little detail.

Talk about a bad online shopping experience you had

You should say:
- what you bought
- what happened
- how the situation was resolved
and explain why it was a bad experience.

IELTS Speaking Part 2 Sample Answer

Recently, I had a disappointing online shopping experience that left me feeling frustrated and disappointed. Rather than receive the item in perfect condition as promised by the seller, it arrived damaged and unusable – an issue which was then compounded made worse by unhelpful customer service.

Here's what happened: I had purchased a beautiful silk kimonoTraditional Japanese clothing online, and was expecting it to be delivered in perfect condition. However, when the package arrived, I was shocked to see that its delicate fabric had been torn at the seams – rendering it unwearable. After making contact with customer service, they offered to send me another kimono – but only if I paid for the delivery charges. Needless to say, this did not sit well with me and left me feeling frustrated and disappointed.

I was then forced to take the matter up with social media – opening a public thread expressing my discontent regarding their customer service and product quality. My post received some traction, which eventually led to the seller finally agreeing to send me a replacement – free of charge this time.

This entire episode was an eye-opening enlightening, startling, shocking experience for me and I’ve since made sure to be extra wary when shopping online. As they say, if it’s too good to be true, it usually is! In the end, what matters most is that I received the product I wanted but it was certainly an uphill battle to get there.

Now whenever I want to shop online, I make sure that I’m dealing with a reputable seller and carefully read the customer reviews before making my purchase. This way, I’m better informed of what to expect and can be confident in my decision. What I’ve learned is that the customer service experience should always be a priority and not just an afterthought. It’s something that companies cannot overlook if they want to keep customers coming back.

So, that’s my story about a time when I had a bad online shopping experience with terrible customer service – I think everyone should be more mindfulcareful when shopping online. When it comes down to it, customer service shouldn’t just be an afterthought - because after all, customers are what keep companies afloat.

Talk about a time you saw a lot of plastic waste

You should say:
- where it was
- the kind of plastic it was
- why it was there
and explain how it made you feel.

IELTS Speaking Part 2 Sample Answer

Well, a few years ago, as part of a project at college, we visited a waste recycling plant in my city. We were taken on a tour of the facility and it was there that we saw an unbelievable amount of plastic waste.

It was all around us, in every corner of the plant - bottles, bags, packaging, etc. - all kinds of plastic waste that couldn't be recycled or reused. It was heartbreaking to see so much discarded plastic.

The people at the plant explained that because it couldn't be recycled, all this plastic waste was just stored in the facility before being sent off to landfills. So, it was just going to sit there for years and pollute the environment with toxic chemicals.

What made it even more shocking was that most of the plastic we saw wasn't biodegradable, which meant it would be around for centuries. It really highlighted to me how much damage our wasteful lifestyles are doing to the environment, and it certainly made me feel guilty about my plastic consumption.

I think what shocked me most was that most of the plastic items I had always thought of as being recyclables - like water bottles - don't get recycled.

There are many problems associated with recycling them such as the fact that it's very expensive to do because they're usually made of multiple materials.

Instead, some companies just dump the waste into landfills or oceans, contributing to the global plastic pollution issue.

It's an experience I'll never forget, and it's one of the things that has made me commit to reducing my plastic consumption. I'm now much more conscious about how much plastic I use and dispose of - shopping bags, beverage bottles, cutlery, and so on.

I also try to spread awareness when possible by talking to people about this issue and the need to reduce plastic consumption. I think that the more we talk about it, the more people will be aware and willing to make changes.

I've also made a point of using environmentally friendly items instead of plastic whenever possible - like reusable bags when shopping, paper straws when drinking, stainless steel cutlery, and so on. It takes some getting used to but I think it's worth it.

And, in my spare time, I try to volunteer with local organizations that are working hard to reduce plastic waste. Whether it's picking up trash on the beach or helping out with a recycling campaign - every little bit helps!

So I do all these things because I saw a lot of plastic waste that day - and it shocked me!

Describe an advertisement that really annoyed you

You should say:
- what the advertisement was
- when and where you saw it
- what made you angry or annoyed
and explain why it annoyed you.

IELTS Speaking Part 2 Sample Answer

I recently saw an advertisement that infuriated me. It was a television commercial for a product related to skin care. The ad depicted a woman who was trying out this product, and the message it sent really made me angry and annoyed.

The commercial showed the woman applying the product to her face, and then having a dramatic transformation in which her skin looked perfect. It implied that by using this product, perfect skin could be the outcome. The ad annoyed me because it was sending a message that beauty products can automatically give us flawless skin and make us look like movie stars.

The ad was unrealistic and gave an incorrect perception of beauty. It completely ignored the fact that we are all unique and there is no one size fits all approach to beauty. It also disregarded the simple fact that achieving clear skin requires more than just using a product; it also needs regular cleansing, moisturizing, and proper sun protection.

Moreover, I felt it was wrong to make people think they could necessarily become beautiful by using the product advertised. I believe that authentic beauty comes from within and is not dependent on what we put onto our skin. We should focus on being kind to others, having confidence, and standing up for things we believe in. Our self-worth should not be dependent on how we look.

TV ads don't normally annoy me, but I think this one was absolutely wrong in its portrayal of beauty. People should be more aware that beauty is not limited to what we see in commercials and that people should not be ashamed of their physical appearance.

I've seen various versions of the ad in the last couple of months - it has created a lot of controversy. People have been arguing that this ad promotes unrealistic beauty standards and reinforces gender stereotypes. We should be confident in our looks, and it is not fair for society to judge people based solely on their looks.

So that's an example of advertising, well, one advertisement I saw recently that really annoyed me.

Talk about somewhere you visited which had a lot of air pollution

You should say:
- Where it was
- What the air was like
- What you did there
And explain why you think the air wasn't clean.

IELTS Speaking Part 2 Sample Answer

I’d like to talk about a place I visited where the air wasn’t clean. That place was a small city in India, called Varanasi.

My first thought when I arrived was how intensely polluted the air was. The city is next to the Ganges River and has a population of over 1 million people, so there’s lots of traffic and industry nearby. As a result, the air quality was very poor. It was difficult to breathe, and my eyes stung from the chemicals in the air.

Despite the pollution, Varanasi is a remarkably vibrant city. Although it was hard to ignore the air quality, I still managed to appreciate its rich cultural heritage. The streets were full of pilgrims who had come to participate in religious ceremonies at the steps that lead to the river. Every morning, Hindus come to bathe in the holy water of the Ganges as part of their tradition.

The city is also home to numerous temples and other places of worship. The most famous one is the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, which has been a site for religious devotion for centuries. I was amazed by the sheer number of devotees who had come to pray and make offerings to Lord Shiva.

The colorful bazaars of Varanasi are filled with exotic spices, fabrics, jewelry, and other goods. I could not help but be mesmerized by the hustle and bustle of the market. I also had the opportunity to enjoy some delicious local cuisine, such as chaat and kachori.

Unfortunately, the air in Varanasi is not as clean as it could be. The problem is due to factors like industrial pollution and agricultural burning. There have been efforts to reduce emissions and improve air quality, but much more needs to be done to make the city's air safe for everyone.

Despite this problem, I still felt like the experience of exploring Varanasi was worth it. It's a fantastic city with a lot to offer, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for something different.

I like a person from another country that I met while in college. Her name is Luisa, and she's from Barcelona, Spain. We met while studying abroad in France and really hit it off right away. She's always so passionate about life and has an infectious enthusiasm for exploring different cultures and languages.

What I like most about Luisa is her eagerness to learn and try new things. She's always the first to volunteer for group projects and is never afraid to put herself in uncomfortable situations if it means learning something new or meeting new people. For example, she volunteered to lead a group of us for a hike up an unfamiliar mountain and took the initiative to learn how to cook dishes from other cultures.

I'm constantly inspired by Luisa's positive energy - her enthusiasm for learning is contagious. She has taught me that no matter where you are from - or what language you speak - there is always something to learn from different cultures and experiences.

Luisa's willingness to take risks and challenge herself is something that I admire deeply. She's a true example of living life with no regrets Her enthusiasm for life is something I will never forget and strive to emulate.

IELTS Part 2 speaking questions and answers

Describe a time when you failed at something

You should say:
- What you were trying to do
- What went wrong and why
- How you overcame it
and explain how you felt about the situation.

IELTS Speaking Part 2 Sample Answer

I remember a time when I failed at something I was excited about. I was trying to pass my driving test and had been studying and practicing for weeks to get ready.

On the day of the test, I was confident and felt like I was ready. Unfortunately, during the driving test, I made some mistakes that caused me to fail.

The first thing that happened was I forgot to adjust my seat correctly before starting the engine which is a requirement to pass.

Later, while driving around a corner, I accidentally strayed into another lane - something I could have avoided if I had paid more attention.

And then, at one point during the drive, the examiner asked me to make an emergency stop - but instead of slamming on the brakes as you're supposed to do in such cases -I hesitated for a split second too long.

These errors combined caused me to fail the test, and I had to start from scratch. But I learned from my mistakes and got back on track, studying hard for the next test.

Eventually, I passed the driving test and had a newfound confidence in my abilities behind the wheel. It was an invaluable lesson that taught me that if you take the time to focus and double-check your preparation, you can overcome almost any obstacle.

So I learned not to give up when faced with a difficult task like passing a driving test to get your license - even if you make some mistakes along the way.

With proper preparation, practice, and dedication, anyone can be successful.

Talk about how technology can help make travel easier and safer

You should say:
- What it is
- How it is helpful
- If it has any drawbacks
and explain why such technology is important.

IELTS Speaking Part 2 Sample Answer

Technology has revolutionized the travel industry in many ways, making it easier and safer for us to explore new destinations.

From apps that make finding the perfect hotel or rental car a breeze to navigation systems that help you get from point A to point B without getting lost, technology is making travel more convenient than ever.

One of the most impactful pieces of travel technology is artificial intelligence (AI). AI can automate many of the mundane tasks associated with travel, such as checking into flights and hotels or tracking currency conversions.

It can also create a personalized travel itinerary and recommendations based on your previous trips and preferences. With AI, the travel industry can provide an even better experience for travelers by tailoring our trips to match our individual needs.

Another convenient travel technology is mobile. With the right mobile app, you can access up-to-date information about your flights, hotels, and other travel arrangements.

Many apps also offer maps and directions and security features such as facial recognition for boarding passes.

Mobile technology also gives you the option to have a virtual assistant that can help with tasks like making reservations or booking tickets.

Finally, the travel industry is using big data to gain insights into how we book our trips. It helps travel service providers better understand our preferences and tailor content and offers to meet our needs.

Big data can also predict travel trends, identify potential fraudulent activity, and enhance product offerings. By using data to anticipate our needs and deliver better experiences, the travel industry can stay one step ahead of changing trends.

As for drawbacks, I think the biggest is that it requires a lot of data to be collected and stored, which can present challenges in terms of privacy and security.

But overall, mobile technology and big data are transforming the travel industry, making it easier, safer, and more efficient to plan and book trips - that's why it's important.

Describe the home of a person you know well

You should say:
- who this person is
- how you know them
- when you visited their home
and explain how you feel about their home.

Sample Answer

The person I know well is my best friend, whom I've known for about 4 years now. We first met when we were both studying at university, and since then we've become close friends. I visited her home for the first time last year when she invited me over to dinner.

Her home was impressive - it was a large, two-storey house with a beautiful garden. Inside, the décor was modern and stylish, with plenty of natural light coming in through the windows. She also had some interesting art pieces hanging up on the walls, which she had collected from her travels around the world.

I felt really comfortable when I was there - my friend is an excellent host, and she made me feel right at home. We talked for hours over dinner, catching up on what had been happening in our lives since we last saw each other. It was a pleasant evening that I will never forget.

What I liked most of all about her home was the garden - it was enormous and had all sorts of beautiful plants and trees. It was peaceful and tranquil, especially when the sun started to set in the evening. I could have easily spent hours there just admiring the scenery.

I also liked how she had decorated her home - using natural materials like wood and stone gave it a very modern but still warm feel. The art pieces were great too - they added so much personality to her house and showed off her sense of style.

My friend's house was incredible and I can't wait to go back again soon! She has done a fantastic job of creating a lovely home that feels both inviting and stylish at the same time. Her taste in interior design is something to be admired. I'm sure anyone who visits would agree with me.

It's definitely one of my favorite places to visit when I'm feeling in the mood for some good company and conversation. I'm so thankful that we became friends all those years ago.

Describe a technology that you find difficult to use

You should say:
- What the technology is
- How you use it
- When you first used it
And explain why using it was difficult.

Sample Answer

I'd like to talk about video editing software. I first used it when making a short film as part of an art project in college. It was pretty confusing at first because there are so many features and options available. It took me several days just to get the basics down and understand how to manipulate footage and add effects.

The most difficult part for me was getting the timing right for transitions, audio cues, etc., without having it look overly artificial or rushed.

And, of course, every time I changed something, that could potentially throw off the entire timeline. Even now, if I'm not careful with my editing techniques, things can go awry quickly, and I have to start from scratch again!

I initially thought I'd just be able to sit down and quickly edit a video together, but I was dead wrong! It took me countless hours of trial and error before I became somewhat proficient in the software. Even now, I'm still learning new tricks and techniques every day.

I guess you could say that editing has become an obsession for me - one which I can't seem to get enough of. And I love seeing the results, knowing that all the effort has paid off. It just never fails to give me a feeling of accomplishment.

Maybe it seemed difficult to use because I'd never done it before. But I've become better at using it with more practice, and I'm proud of that.

To be honest, I had no idea what video editing involved when I started. But after numerous hours spent mastering the software and learning different techniques, I can confidently say that video editing has become one of my passions - even though I've still got a lot to learn.

Seeing my work come together, in the end, gives me immense satisfaction; it’s such an incredible feeling!

Talk about how artificial intelligence could impact the future of work

You should say:
- what the impact might be
- the kind of jobs it might affect
- how people may need to adapt
and explain how you feel about these possible impacts.

Sample Answer

I guess Artificial Intelligence (AI) is likely to have a profound impact, as AI technology can do many tasks that used to be done by humans more efficiently and cost-effectively than ever before.

This could lead to big changes in the labor market; for example, a lot of low-skill jobs, like data entry or manual labor, could be replaced by machines operated by AI algorithms. Similarly, many routine tasks that require decision-making and analysis – such as those done by accountants and financial analysts – will no doubt become automated soon.

Naturally, people would need to adapt to this new reality. To avoid being left behind, many workers would have to shift their focus and retrain for more specialized roles that require creativity, problem-solving skills, and interpersonal communication.

I can share a recent example from my own experience. Recently, my company employed an AI-powered chatbot to improve customer service. Instead of using human representatives, the chatbot answered simple questions and provided basic information - it allowed the company to reduce its costs while improving efficiency.

And I heard about another case in my city - there's an accounting firm that implemented AI software to automate many of their mundane tasks. So their accountants now focus on more lucrative projects and make the most out of their time to increase productivity. And they can take on bigger clients and expand their business faster than ever before.

AI can indeed have a huge impact on the way we work, but it is also good to remember that the use of AI should always be strategically planned and thoughtfully implemented. It should never replace human judgment and decision-making, as this could lead to errors that may not be easy to detect or resolve.

Also, companies have to pay close attention when it comes to data security and privacy. When artificial intelligence is integrated into a system, the user data must be kept safe from unauthorized access and misuse.

So although AI can offer great advantages for businesses, we need to use it in tandem with human resources and with proper precautions to ensure its secure usage.

My feelings about artificial intelligence are that it's a powerful tool - when used properly - and will bring many advances to the business world. It will allow us to do things faster and more accurately than ever before -- things that would otherwise be impossible or too difficult for humans alone.

But at the same time, we must remember to use AI responsibly.

Describe a social movement for change in your community

You should say:
- What the change was
- How it started
- What kind of support it got
And explain how it achieved its goal.

Well, recently, there’s been a lot of discussion in my community about making changes to help the environment, so I'll tell you about an incredible social movement organized by some local volunteers. It started with just a few people who wanted to make a difference and eventually led to something quite amazing.

The movement's goal was to reduce plastic waste in our town, and they had some pretty ambitious targets. They wanted everyone in the community to replace their plastic bags with reusable ones, switch from single-use plastics such as straws and cups to biodegradable alternatives, and for businesses around town to start offering discounts for customers who used reusable containers.

At first, it seemed like a lot to expect, but the volunteers were determined and started by organizing events around town to raise awareness. They used posters, flyers, and social media campaigns to encourage people to get behind their cause.

The movement took off after a few months, with more and more people becoming involved each week. Soon local businesses were getting on board too, offering discounts for customers who brought their reusable bags or containers. Slowly but surely, we could see the impact of this incredible social movement as our town began to reduce its plastic waste.

It was amazing to witness such an impactful change happening in my community, and it has inspired me to think about other ways I can help make a difference too. It’s given me hope for the future that small actions can make a big impact if we all band together behind them.

I believe in the power of community and think that people need to be encouraged to get behind local causes, whatever they may be. We can’t just sit back and hope for things to change – we have to take action ourselves and try to create positive changes in our communities.

IELTS Speaking Questions with Answers

Describe a time when you spoke up about something you felt was unfair

You should say:
- When the situation happened
- What you said or did
- How others reacted
and explain why this experience was significant for you

Well, I recall a time when I spoke up about something that I felt was unfair. It happened just a few months ago in my school when one of the teachers was being incredibly unfair to the students.

To give you some context, I am studying at a competitive university, and there is a lot of pressure on us to perform, or else we risk failing our classes. In this particular instance, our professor refused to accept any late assignments even if we had a valid excuse and he had not specified this rule in the syllabus.

Naturally, I took issue with this and decided to speak up about it. Doing so was an unusual step for me as I am usually quite introverted, so I was somewhat scared of confronting someone in authority. But I knew that if I didn't do something, the professor's attitude would only worsen, and our entire class would suffer as a result.

I was able to gather some of my classmates together, and we presented our grievances to the professor in a respectful manner. Surprisingly enough, he listened attentively and agreed to be more lenient with late assignments in the future. We were all very relieved and thanked him for his cooperation.

In the end, it all worked out due to our efforts. Everyone passed the course thanks to the professor's change of heart, and we even had some fun while studying. It helped that he lightened up on the syllabus a bit too, which made learning more enjoyable.

IELTS Speaking Questions and Answers

Describe a creative project that you have worked on recently

You should say:
- what it was
- why you did it
- who helped you
and explain what you learned from doing it.

Well, recently, I worked on a creative project for my school's culture festival. We decided to recreate an old-fashioned movie theater experience in our school gym. We used old furniture and fabrics to create the vintage feel we were looking for and even designed a big screen out of cardboard that we hung from the ceiling! We also borrowed some vintage movie posters from an old theater nearby.

The reason for this project was to give our students a unique experience and to help promote the cultural festival at our school. We wanted them to feel like they were stepping into a time machine! It was definitely an ambitious project, but we all enjoyed working on it, especially since none of us had ever done anything like it before.

The movie night was a huge success! Everyone loved the old-fashioned theater, and we were surprised at how many people showed up. The atmosphere that evening was electric - everyone felt transported to another world! Our students had such an amazing time that they asked us to do it again next year, and we certainly intend to fulfill their request. It's definitely a memory I'll always cherish.

All in all, organizing a movie night was an incredible experience. It's a great way to bring people together and create something special. I would recommend it to anyone looking for something unique and fun to do.

Probably the most important thing I learned from this project was that it pays to take risks and think outside the box. We could have just watched a movie as everyone else does, but we decided to be creative and do something a bit different - and it paid off.

Coming together as a community and creating something meaningful was an incredible feeling. I love being able to contribute in this way and look forward to doing more projects like this. So yes, I highly recommend organizing a movie night - you won't regret it.

Though there were many challenges along the way, the end result was definitely worth it. It was so satisfying seeing our hard work pay off in such a big way - the event was a huge success! We were all so proud of what we accomplished - and the best part was that everyone had so much fun. The movie night was a great way to make memories together and give back to our community in a meaningful way. It's so inspiring to see how powerful collaboration can be - it really shows the power of teamwork.

IELTS Speaking Questions & Answers

Describe the benefits of a sharing economy for you/your community

You should say:
- what impact it has had
- who has benefited
- the challenges it brings
and explain how you feel about it.

The sharing economy has been a real game changer for my community. It's made it easier to access goods and services while creating new opportunities for entrepreneurs. Plus, having many more options means that everyone can find something that fits their individual needs — it's a win-win!

The sharing economy has revolutionized the way my community accesses lots of things. For example, I recently used a car-sharing service to get to an appointment across town — it was easier than ever. Plus, it supports local business owners who can offer their skills or products through online platforms like Airbnb or TaskRabbit.

This has changed the game for people looking to start their own businesses — they can now leverage technology and marketplaces to reach a larger audience.

Plus, having access to different types of services means there's something for everyone. Maybe you're looking for affordable transportation, an online marketplace to showcase your products or a platform-based service such as a virtual assistant - there's a service out there for you.

Of course, with the positive comes some negatives. With the rise of technology-based services, it can be challenging to tell the difference between legit services and those that aren't so good. You need to do your research when exploring different platforms and look into customer reviews and ratings before making any decisions.

Also, you must remember that some services may be more expensive than others - but they can offer extra features or a higher level of customer service.

I think accessing different types of technology-based services is a great way to keep up with the latest trends and find a diverse range of solutions for your needs. Whether you're looking for a way to stay organized, promote your business online, or keep up with current events, there are services available that can help. The key is doing research and making sure you're choosing the most suitable service for what you need.

With a bit of effort, you can find the perfect service that meets all your needs. So I'm not afraid to take advantage of what the sharing economy offers.

IELTS Speaking Questions with Answers

Describe a time when you had an argument with a friend

You should say:
- When it happened
- Who was involved
- What it was about
And explain why it ended in an argument.

I had a bit of a disagreement with one of my longtime friends around last New Year. We were at my house getting ready to celebrate, and I was shocked because we'd been close for so long. It was an unexpected argument!

The argument was about video games, which we've talked about plenty of times before and usually disagreed about. This time, though, it got pretty heated as neither of us wanted to back down.

I wanted to try out this new game that had just been released while my friend wanted us to play one of our old favorites. We were both passionate about our points of view and unfortunately, it resulted in a negative outcome.

Before I knew it, we were arguing and shouting at each other. I was so angry that I just stormed out of the house. My emotions got the best of me and I really messed up that evening, but eventually, things cooled down and we made up.

Now, when my friend and I get into arguments, I'm reminded to keep my cool, even when it's hard. We still have a lot of fun together playing our favorite games - though I'm more mindful of which one I choose now!

This experience taught me the importance of compromising and being more open-minded when working things out with others. It was an argument we could have avoided if we had just talked things through and agreed to disagree about what game to play.

I still feel quite bad about how it all ended in frustration and disappointment, and I'm determined to not let it happen again.

So, to make sure it doesn't - I'm going to remain more open-minded in the future and willing to work with others no matter what the situation is. Hopefully, this will avoid another argument like that one.

Describe a mobile phone app you used to learn a new skill

You should say:
- the name of the app
- the skill you learned from it
- how the app helped you learn this skill
And explain why you found the app helpful.

I'd like to tell you about a novel and helpful mobile phone app I used to learn something new - it's called Breathing Coach. It was amazing and helped me master the practice of mindful breathing, a technique used for calming down during times of stress or anxiety.

I discovered this app by chance while searching for something to help me relax after a difficult day. It seemed like the perfect solution, and I immediately decided to try it. The app has several lessons, breathing exercises, and different types of guided relaxation techniques.

One of the best things about this app is its user-friendly interface. It's easy to use and navigate; the instructions are straightforward and clear, so you don't have to worry about getting lost or confused while using it.

And what's even more impressive is that it shows progress in real time - each exercise displays your results with useful graphs so you can track your success over time.

So how does it work? The app begins with an introduction about mindful breathing, explaining the concept and how it can help us create a more peaceful life.

After a brief tutorial, I got access to dozens of exercises I could do throughout my day - from just five minutes to longer sessions if I wanted more. There were even audio tracks on the app to guide my breathing pace when needed.

As I continued using Breathing Zone, I noticed that I was becoming more aware of my breathing when I was feeling overwhelmed and stressed - allowing me to take a step back from the situation before responding in an unhelpful way.

Overall, this app has been super useful for helping me learn how to practice mindful breathing, which is just one example of the many skills you can learn through mobile phone apps today. Thanks to these helpful technologies, anyone with a smartphone can now easily expand their knowledge.

Describe something that you lost and found

You should say:
- What you lost
- When you lost it
- How you found it
And explain why you were glad to have it back.

I'm going to talk about a time when I lost and later found my car keys. It was back in the summer of 2018, and I remember it was an extremely hot day. I had been out for a walk, enjoying the sunshine and feeling very relaxed. When I got home, however, I realized that my car keys were no longer in my pocket!

At first, I couldn't believe it - after all, I'd had them with me only a few minutes earlier! As soon as this realization set in, so did the panic. After searching around frantically for what felt like hours but was probably not even 10 minutes, I knew that they were gone for good. My heart sank at this thought, and I began to feel discouraged.

Fortunately, that discouragement quickly lifted when, later in the evening, I received a call from someone who had found my keys! It turns out that they had been lying on the pavement all along - someone had seen them and decided to collect them in case anyone came looking for them. I was so relieved to have my keys back and incredibly grateful for the kindness of this stranger! I thanked them profusely for their help and felt very lucky indeed.

So, it was certainly an experience I won't forget anytime soon. Although it wasn't a pleasant feeling at first, it reminded me of the importance of kindness and how even something as simple as returning lost items can make someone's day. It also made me much more aware of my belongings and the need to take good care of them.

Talk about a person you know who loves to grow plants (e.g., vegetables, fruits, flowers)

You should say:
- who the person is
- what plants the person grows
- where the person grows them
And explain why they enjoy growing these plants.

I'm going to talk about my mom, who loves to grow plants. She's a retired teacher, and gardening has been her passion since she was young.

My mom grows various plants - vegetables, fruits, herbs, and flowers. In the vegetable patch of our garden, she grows tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, cucumbers, and so on. For fruits, she mainly concentrates on growing apples, pears, and plums, as these are more suited to our climate. There are also some strawberries which she likes very much. She has herbs like basil, oregano, and thyme in our garden too. As for flowering plants, there are all sorts - from tulips to roses to lilies!

Mom loves to spend her time tending to the plants. She's always out in the garden, checking on them and making sure they're growing well. That's not all though - she also takes great pride in sharing the produce from her garden with our neighbors, friends, and family. Whether it's a basket of tomatoes or a bunch of basil leaves, everybody loves what she grows.

I think my mom has a special connection with nature that I can’t explain. It’s almost magical watching her transform an area into a lush oasis full of life! I’m so proud of her for pursuing something she loves and turning it into an amazing hobby. Whenever I have free time, I love to spend it with my mom in the garden, learning more about plants and nature. It’s been a great way for us to bond and even though I don’t have a “green thumb” like her, I feel so connected to nature when we’re together in the garden.

Besides being an avid gardener, my mom is also very mindful of the environment. She always uses sustainable gardening practices that minimize waste and pollution. For instance, she reuses containers instead of buying new plastic ones, composts all organic material, encourages wildlife habitats, and never uses chemical sprays or fertilizers on our plants.

My mom's passion for gardening has had such a positive impact on me - I even have a little garden now! I try to use the same sustainable practices she does and it's been so rewarding. Plus, it's a great way to relax and de-stress from everyday life. Gardening really is a hobby for all ages!

I recall an occasion when my boss said something positive about my work. It was an assignment on a project I had done, and she complimented me for the amount of effort and dedication I had put into it. She told me that I had exceeded expectations and that the outcome was remarkable.

I remember feeling incredibly proud and humbled at the same time. After all, this was someone who I highly respected as a boss and mentor, so to hear her say such kind words about me felt special. My initial reaction was one of disbelief, followed by immense gratitude for being recognized for my hard work.

The comments made me realize how much effort I had put into the task; more importantly, they motivated me to keep striving to do better. It also reminded me to stay humble and that it was possible to achieve a goal no matter how daunting or difficult it seemed. Even though the task had been challenging, my determination and commitment to see it through paid off in the end. It was an incredibly proud moment for me.

The experience taught me two important lessons; firstly, never underestimate yourself, and secondly, never give up. No matter how demanding something may seem, you have the power to make it happen if you work hard enough and believe in your capabilities. Looking back now, I am grateful for this valuable lesson that has stayed with me throughout my career journey since then. It reminds me of just what is achievable when I put my mind to something and remain focused on my goal. The feeling of accomplishment is priceless.

Having gone through this experience, I am now more confident in taking on challenging tasks and I believe it will serve me well going forward. In any job, there are always difficult hurdles to overcome and it’s important to have the determination and perseverance to keep pushing until you get the result that you want. Talk about a piece of art that impressed you

You should say:
- What the piece of art was
- Where you saw it
- What you liked about it
and explain why you were impressed by it.

I was recently blown away by a piece of artwork I saw at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain. It was a large, abstract painting called "The Garden" by artist Mark Rothko. What struck me about this piece was its color and movement - the painting featured soft blues, pinks, and purples that flowed seamlessly from one hue to another. The colors seemed to almost dance on the canvas and created a sense of calmness and serenity.

As I stood there looking at it I began to feel my own emotions swell with each brushstroke. It felt like I could get lost in this painting, with the pieces blurring together until all that remained was a sense of peace. I stayed in front of it for some time, just taking in the beauty and emotion that this piece had to offer.

Realizing I had been there for some time, I slowly walked away feeling content yet still wanting more from the painting. It had become a part of me that day and left an impression on my heart that will never be forgotten. I could not help but leave with a greater appreciation for art and what it can do to our emotions. Every time I look at "The Garden" now, I am reminded of my own emotions and the power art has over us all.

Describe a way people can save money when buying something

You should say:
- What it is
- How to do it
- How it helps save money
and explain why it is a good idea.

IELTS speaking Part 2 topics

One way people can save money when buying something is by shopping around for the best deal. This entails researching different stores, comparing their prices, and selecting the one with the most attractive offer.

It may involve visiting physical stores or browsing online stores to determine which offers the item at a lower price. It also involves looking out for sales or special discounts that can result in significant savings and not needing to spend so much money.

Shopping around is beneficial because it allows people to get the item they want at an affordable price. It can help them save money, which they can use elsewhere or put into their savings account. Also, by shopping around and doing some extra research, people may even be able to find items that are not available in their local stores.

Shopping around can also be a great way to compare the quality of different items. People can look at reviews and ratings to get an idea of how good or bad the item is before they make a purchase.

Checking reviews helps them ensure that they are getting quality products at the right price. Finally, it can also be a great way to learn about new products available in the market and how they compare to similar items.

Coupons, promos, and discounts are also great ways for people to save money when shopping. Companies often offer special discounts and deals that can help shoppers get the best price on their purchases.

People can look for sales, promotional offers, and other incentives to see if they can get a better deal than what is initially available.

Shopping around can be a great way to find the best deal possible on any item. Whether it’s groceries, clothes, electronics, or something else entirely, taking the time to compare prices and shop around can lead to serious savings in the long run.

Shopping around is a key part of any smart shopping strategy.

Part 2 speaking IELTS with answers

Describe a situation where you had to be polite (to someone you didn't like)

You should say:
- where and when it was
- who was there
- why you had to be polite
and explain how you felt about it afterwards.
IELTS speaking part 2 topics

I had to be polite to someone I didn't like last month at a family gathering. It was my cousin's birthday party, so all of her friends and extended family were there.

My cousin and I don't get along very well, and one of her friends really rubbed me the wrong way. I tried to remain as polite as possible during our interactions, even though it was a struggle for me.

It required a lot of inner strength and self-control that I didn't know I had. After the party, however, I felt relieved that I managed to stay civil despite what could have been an awkward situation for everyone else in attendance.

Overall, it taught me a valuable lesson about when it is important to be gracious and understanding. Even if I don't care for someone, I must respect them.

That moment has stuck with me for years and continues to be an example of how I should conduct myself when around people whom I may not always agree or get along with.

The experience also helped me gain a clearer understanding of the importance of family dynamics. Despite our shared connection, my cousin and I can still have disagreements that could strain our relationship.

But in those moments, it's important to remember that we are both a part of the same family and must work together to ensure peace and harmony within our unit. Having this knowledge has made me much more conscious of my words and actions whenever I am around close relatives.

It reminds me to be mindful of my tone and how I phrase things so that I don't cause unnecessary tension or create a hostile atmosphere.

The same principle applies to any situation involving people with whom I may have differences of opinion. Through this experience, I learned to respect the opinions and beliefs of others, even if they are different from mine.

I remember that even though we may disagree on some issues, we're all just trying to make our way in the world. Recognizing this can help me keep a cool head during disagreements and allow us to coexist peacefully despite our differences.

IELTS speaking Part 2 topics

Describe a time when you used your mobile phone for some important work

You should say:
- what work it was
- when this happened
- why you needed to use your phone
and explain how you felt while doing it.
IELTS speaking part 2 topics

I recently had an occasion when I used my mobile phone to get some important work done. It was a couple of weeks ago, and I was supposed to submit a project proposal, which involved attaching some documents to it. Unluckily, the files were too big and they wouldn't attach properly.

That's when I realized that I would have to use my phone's app store to download a tool that allowed me to compress the document into smaller sizes.

This activity took up quite some time as the app required quite a few updates before it could be launched successfully. But in the end, with great effort, I managed to make it happen!

I felt empowered after doing this task on my own. It was a huge accomplishment for me and I felt much more confident afterwards.

Although the task wasn't easy, I enjoyed it immensely as it allowed me to learn something new and successfully tackle the challenge head-on!

I was proud of myself for being able to figure out how to do something that seemed impossible at first.

This experience has further motivated me to continue exploring and learning new things because no matter the challenges thrown in front of us, we can always find solutions if we try hard enough.

From now on, I'm sure that any obstacle that comes my way won't faze me because I know that with patience and focus - anything is possible!

Describe a comic actor who is popular in your country

- who is the actor
- how do you know him/her
- what kind of person is he/she
and explain why he/she is popular in your country.
Topics for speaking IELTS

I’d like to tell you about a well known actor who is very funny, his name is Rowan Atkinson, he’s probably best known worldwide for his funny character Mr Bean. I first saw him in a movie on DVD and I thought he was really hilarious.

Later I discovered some other old DVDs of TV shows he had done in the past. I think I’ve watched nearly all of the shows he’s done now. In fact I watched a movie of his just a couple of weeks ago with a friend… it was a spoof spy movie like the James Bond movies but he was useless at everything and it was very funny.

I hadn’t seen it for years but my friend found the old DVD and we decided to watch it.

He’s funny because he is so ridiculous and yet loveable at the same time. He always seems to have the best intentions but he gets himself into terrible problems and funny situations just doing normal things.

The things he does are very simple, but very funny and I think it’s because most of his comedy is based on real life everyday situations that lots of people can relate to it and just how easy it would be for it to happen in real life. His style of comedy is very clever.

He’s popular not only in my country but all around the world. As I said I think that people like him because it’s not complex humour – it could happen to anyone, but it normally doesn’t, however, it always seems to happen to him.

Another thing that’s different to many other comic actors is that he doesn’t normally speak a lot, he’s funny because of his facial gestures and body movements... the comedy doesn’t rely on smart or witty dialogue... just on the silly situation or events that he’s involved in.

That’s something that makes him appealing to a very wide audience.

IELTS Part 2 speaking questions and answers

Describe a style or kind of music

- do you like this type of music (Why/why not?)
- what kind of music do you prefer
- what role does music play in people's lives
And say how important you think music is for people.
Topics for speaking IELTS

I am a big fan of jazz music. I love the unique and improvised feel that comes with it, and its ability to bring people together in a joyful atmosphere. Jazz is one of those genres which has evolved over time and mixes several different types of musical styles such as blues, classical, and even some contemporary elements.

I think jazz plays an important role in people's lives as it helps to lift their spirits when they are feeling down. Music also has the power to evoke certain emotions, memories, or feelings which can be very therapeutic for some people. It can also serve as an avenue for self-expression if someone has difficulty finding another outlet.

I think music is extremely important for human beings because it provides us with a way to express ourselves, entertain others, and bring joy into our lives. Jazz has been around for centuries and is still popular today because of its timeless quality. Its unique blend of different musical styles makes it a great option when looking to express yourself or create an atmosphere of relaxation and comfort. No matter what type of jazz you listen to, chances are there is something in it that can relate to you in some way.

And of course, if you're having difficulty finding another outlet of expression, music can always be a great place to start. Whether it’s making your own or listening to others, creating and enjoying music can help bring balance and peace into your life. So I always take some time out of my day and let the soothing sounds of jazz fill my soul with positivity.

Describe a popular tourist destination that you have visited

You should say:
- where it is
- what kind of attractions it has
- how long you spent there
And explain why you think it is popular. Topics for speaking IELTS

I’d like to talk about Niagara Falls, one of the most popular tourist destinations in North America. It’s located on the border between Canada and the United States and it’s famous for its massive waterfalls.

I visited Niagara Falls for the first time about ten years ago and spent a few days there. I remember being impressed by the size of the waterfalls. They’re truly massive, and really beautiful too.

I went with my best friend, and we did many touristy things. the tourism industry there is booming! We went on a boat ride that took us right up to the edge of the falls, and we also went hiking in the area. There are some great trails with really stunning views.

The entire experience was memorable, and I’d love to go back again someday. Niagara Falls is definitely one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited.

I think Niagara Falls is so popular because it’s such a unique place. There are very few places in the world where you can see something like that. It’s also a relatively easy destination to get to, especially if you’re coming from North America.

I would recommend Niagara Falls to anyone who’s looking for a unique and beautiful place to visit.

Describe an occasion when you had to wait in a long line or queue for a long time

- When was it?
- Where was it?
- What did you do while waiting?
and explain how you felt about it.
IELTS Speaking Part 2 Sample Answers

Alright. I remember a couple of years ago, probably 10 years ago now, and I just graduated from high school.

So we'd sat our exams, sometime in April or May, and we received our notification that the results were out. I had to travel all the way to the university, which is 25 or 30 kilometers from my home.

And it's pretty normal for people to, you know, go to university in another town or city, it's common where I live anyway. So, um, the university I went to had 1000s of students. And so we were made to wait in line.

But it wasn't a single line, because we had all of these students, you know, half of them came with their parents. And, you know, some people were waiting in line for some other people, because they didn't really give us a time; when they would put up the list of people who were eligible to do a degree program within the college because it was a very competitive college.

As I said, there was 10,000 people, I mean, students, so getting a seat was cutthroat, to be honest. And so we were all excited and scared, you know, getting admitted to a college or university is really difficult here.

I think I reached the front of the line at about 2 pm, or 3 pm, or something like that in the afternoon. And so I went there with a couple of friends. So we were just talking as we do. And we expected that they would put up the list in half an hour, 20 minutes, or maybe 40 minutes.

But we kept asking the supervisor of admissions, hey, when will the list be out? And they just said, it's going to be out in 15 minutes, 20 minutes - the response was always it'll be in 15 minutes or 20 minutes.

And it was so frustrating because, eventually, when the list came out, it was 4:45 pm. And you know how it is, the list comes out, the guy says, okay, I've posted the list. And you can all come in and check if your name is on the list.

And there were so many people, there were thousands of people like I said, you had parents and students themselves, there was a mad rush, and you couldn't even see the board, because there were so many people in front of you.

So eventually, by the time I checked the list and took a picture of it for myself, it was probably 5:00 pm or 5:20 pm. So I had to wait for two and a half hours almost. And I mean, that was crazy.

I really hated the whole experience. Because, generally, I don't like crowds. And you know, I don't feel like having to queue for things. And as much as possible, I prefer to have an appointment sort of system.

But they didn't even think that they should have, you know, uploaded the list online, instead of, you know, making everyone come there and waste their time. So it was awful.

I just hated the experience.

Follow up question: What happened next?

What happened next was after I took a picture of my results, I went home, nothing else to do.

We didn't have lessons or anything. And I didn't have my friends around. I was tired of all the waiting in line and just wanted to go home and relax.

We were both super happy, and it felt like everything was perfect. It was just the two of us there, and it was such a special moment.

I think it was the happiest moment of my life because it was a time when everything felt right, and we were both so in love. It was a moment I will remember forever.

My partner and I were out walking in a park near our home. It was a beautiful day, and we were just enjoying each other's company.

I was so happy! We hugged and kissed each other. It was a wonderful moment that we both cherish.

Later that day, I told my parents about our engagement, and they were thrilled. My father said he always knew I would find someone special, and my mother said she was happy that I had found someone who loved me for who I was.

My parents asked about the wedding plans, and we told them we wanted to keep it small and intimate. We also told them that we would like to have the ceremony and reception at our house. They were both on board with our plans and offered to help in any way they could.

IELTS Speaking Part 2 Sample Answers

I remember one occasion when I gave a gift to my brother. It was his birthday, and I wanted to get him something special. I thought long and hard about what he would like, and in the end, I decided on a new video game that he had been wanting. He was so surprised and happy when he opened it! He thanked me profusely, and we spent the rest of the day playing it together. It was a great day.

The video game I chose as my gift was Madden NFL 18. It's for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows. As with past entries in the series, Madden NFL 18 introduces several new features to the franchise. Among these are a story-based long-term campaign mode called "Longshot", which follows fictional quarterback Devin Wade as he tries to make it into the NFL. There's also an updated version of the "Ultimate Team" mode with personalization features and more challenges. One of the best things about this game is the level of realism. The animations and graphics are top-notch, and the player movements look quite realistic. Another great thing about Madden NFL 18 is the amount of control you have over players and teams. You can customize everything to your liking, which is awesome. I'm sure anyone else who's a football fan would love it too!

I gave my brother the gift on his birthday, and he was really happy and excited when he opened it. Although he received a lot of other presents too, he said that it was exactly what he wanted. He loves that sort of thing because he's a big fan of the NFL. I hadn't seen him for a couple of months because I'd been away at college. So it was nice to go home for his birthday with a surprise for him.

Do you think he'll continue playing the game?

Yes, he definitely plans on continuing to play the game. It seems like a lot of fun, and he really enjoys it.

IELTS Speaking Part 2 with Answers:

I learned a lot of skills from my grandfather, who was a very patient and knowledgeable man. One of the skills I learned from him was how to audit a business.

This skill was very useful to me in my career as an accountant. It was not easy to learn, but it was very rewarding. Learning this skill made me feel confident and capable.

Auditing is examining a company's financial records to ensure that they are accurate and compliant with regulations. It is an important aspect of accounting and auditing businesses.

There are many different types of audits, but the most common are financial audits, compliance audits, and operational audits. These audits ensure that a company's financial statements are accurate and free from errors.

One of the most challenging things to learn was the different types of audits and their purposes. But, once I understood that it was much easier to complete my tasks.

Operational audits assess a company's operations and procedures. This type of audit evaluates how well a company is run and identifies areas that need improvements. Compliance audits ensure that a company complies with all applicable laws and regulations. These audits can be performed by government agencies or by private organizations.

Describe your favorite piece of clothing
You should say:
- what it is
- where you bought it
- how often you wear it
and say why it’s your favorite piece of clothing.

Answer:

I'm not a big follower of fashion or in the vanguard of style, but I must admit that I like to look good, and I can be a little vain sometimes.

But I think that comfort is one of the most important aspects of clothing when you need to choose an outfit, especially shoes, where it’s important they look beautiful, but comfort isn’t the only thing you need to think about when you go to shopping. However, if I had to choose my favorite piece of clothing, I would think it's my boots.

This type of boot is famous because it was one of the first waterproof leather boots of its kind, with rubber soles and high quality leather. They are a classic yellow color, and, on both sides, there is a logo; a tree inside a circle, carved with the brand name Timberland.

My boots are special because I have many memories with them; I have visited many places and walked through beautiful towns, and they have accompanied me on unforgettable trips. But the most incredible thing is that despite the distance I have walked in them, they still look great.

They were a gift from someone a few years ago, someone for whom I have great affection. I remember living in a cold city in those days, and it rained a lot, and the weather was cold, so the boots were a very appropriate gift at the time.

My boots have a lot of qualities that make them easy to wear, like the color and the appearance; you can use them with almost any outfit, and they coordinate very well. I used to use them almost every day but a few months ago I moved, and the city where I live now is hot, and for this reason, I have stopped using them.

My boots are my favorite piece of clothing because they are very comfortable. Also they are good quality, and go with almost any type of clothing. They’re great for walking, something I love to do, and super comfortable, versatile, and very durable.

Describe an event that you organized at work which was successful
You should say:
- what the event was
- where it was
- who helped you
and explain why you think it was a success.

I once organized a team-building event at work. It was held in our local park and included activities like scavenger hunts, friendly competitions, and picnics. I had help from some of my colleagues who helped plan out the activity list and also brought food for everyone to enjoy.

The event was a success because everyone had fun and it really brought us all together as a team. We were able to bond with each other outside of the office environment, which allowed us to get to know one another better and build trust within our team.

Everyone left the event feeling energized and motivated, which made for a productive working environment afterwards!

Overall, I think the event was successful because it created an enjoyable atmosphere that enabled us to collaborate and work more effectively together. Thanks to the help of my colleagues, I am now confident that our team will continue to grow stronger with each new endeavor.

It was truly a great experience and I am grateful for everyone who helped make it happen!

Some interesting things I learned while organizing the event was how to coordinate among different departments and plan activities that catered to everyone's needs.

I also learned valuable communication skills such as being clear and concise, providing feedback, and discussing ideas in a constructive manner. Moreover, I developed a better understanding of my colleagues' strengths and weaknesses, which enabled me to utilize their unique talents for the success of the event.

All in all, it was an amazing learning experience that has made me even more equipped to work with others.

I was extremely happy with the outcome of our team-building event and look forward to planning more events like this in the future. It was a great opportunity for us to come together as one harmonious unit - creating strong bonds between us.

You should say:
- what the decision was
- why it was difficult
- how you decided
and say whether you think it was good decision or not, and why.

One of the most difficult decisions I ever had to make was whether or not to leave my job. After working in the same role for a number of years, I felt that it no longer challenged me and I wanted to move on. However, leaving this job meant giving up a steady income which made the decision really tough.

Ultimately, I decided that if I didn’t take this opportunity to move on then I would regret it for years to come. So, after much consideration, I took the plunge and left my job.

Looking back now, it was definitely the right decision as it allowed me to pursue new opportunities that have been incredibly rewarding both professionally and personally. Without taking this risk, who knows where I’d be today? It’s been a journey and despite the occasional bumps along the way, I wouldn’t change it for anything.

The experience has taught me many valuable lessons that I carry with me to this day. Taking risks can be daunting but it is often necessary in order to reach your goals. Sometimes you have to take a leap of faith, trust your instincts, and just go for it.

Life is too short not to take chances and make the most out of every opportunity that comes your way. The best things in life don't come easy but they are worth fighting for!

Looking back now, I'm grateful that I chose to take a risk and follow my dreams. It may not have been the easiest path but it was definitely worth it in the end. Live life with no regrets, take risks, and never give up on your dreams - that's what I believe!

IELTS speaking Part 3 decision making
Describe a journey that you disliked
You should say:
- why you made the journey
- what happened during it
- what you disliked about it
And explain how you felt about the journey

I once made a journey that I really didn't like. The reason I had to make the journey was because my work required me to visit a client who lived in another city. I thought it would be an interesting experience, but it turned out to be quite unpleasant.

The journey itself was long and tiring. It took several hours of driving on winding roads before I reached my destination. Along the way, I got stuck in traffic multiple times which only added to the length of the already lengthy trip. All this combined with the fact that there weren't many places to stop for breaks meant that by the time I arrived at my destination, I felt exhausted and overwhelmed.

What really made the journey terrible though were the roads. The roads were so bumpy, potholed and winding that it felt like I was driving on a rollercoaster. There were also no signs or markers to indicate where I was supposed to turn which made navigation difficult. Add in the fact that my GPS wasn't working properly and it became an absolute nightmare.

When I arrived at my client's house, I was frazzled and stressed out from the journey. My client did not seem too pleased with me either as he had been expecting me much earlier than when I eventually got there. All in all, it was a journey I disliked intensely - a terrible experience and one I wouldn't wish upon anyone!
