    Describe A Hotel

Sample answer from IELTS speaking test

The most luxurious hotel I've ever stayed in was the Bellagio in Las Vegas. It's a luxury hotel that has everything - a beautiful swimming pool area with a waterfall, huge rooms with marble bathrooms, and even a chapel inside for weddings. And, of course, it's located right on the Vegas strip, so you're never too far from the action. It was a lot better than the awful Holiday Inn I was forced to stay at on a recent business trip.

    Where is it located?

The Bellagio is located on the Las Vegas strip and is near a variety of attractions including casinos, restaurants, and shopping. The strip is famous for its many hotels and casinos, and the Bellagio is one of the most popular.

What does the hotel look like?

The hotel has a beautiful pool area with a waterfall, huge rooms with marble bathrooms, and even a chapel. How would I describe its physical appearance? Well, it looks fancy, but I don't know much about architecture.

The hotel looks very grand with its golden pointy roofs and long windows. It would definitely be considered a nice place to stay by most people.

What facilities does the hotel have?

It's a 5-star hotel, so there's a lot of staff on hand, the room service includes meals, and the hotel has several restaurants. They also have an enormous pool with a waterfall, a gym, sauna, and jacuzzi.

There are many different facilities to choose from, such as an outdoor swimming pool complete with waterfalls and multiple rooms for private occasions such as weddings or conferences. It provides various restaurants available for guest use that range in the cuisine served (American, Mexican, Italian), workout areas with treadmills and weight machines/free weights, etc., spa treatments offered by professionals to relax tired muscles after long days. Plus, it has a fully equipped convention center.

What are the rooms like? Are they old or new? Are they clean?

The rooms in this hotel are pretty big compared to other hotels in Vegas. Most of them include safes for your belongings, minibars stocked with soda/water/juice/beer/vodka, and TVs with channels accessible via touch screen panel.

    How well-equipped is this hotel?

There are so many different things in the hotel, you would never get bored staying there.

How is the food? There are many different restaurants to choose from when dining at the hotel. At almost every restaurant, the food is incredible, and staff will accommodate any dietary needs that you may have (gluten-free, vegan, etc.).

Is it a nice hotel to stay at?

Yes! This is one of my favorite hotels. I've stayed here twice before in different rooms, and they were both excellent in size and decor! The best thing about the hotel is its modern look with a classic twist.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Are there any differences between hotels in your country and hotels abroad?

From my experience, there are some clear differences between hotels here and those in a foreign country.

First, customer service can vary a lot. Hotels here often focus on personalized service, while some abroad might be more business-like. Also, amenities differ; for example, tea and coffee facilities are common here but not always abroad.

Plus, hotel designs often reflect local culture and styles, making each stay unique. Overall, while hotels serve the same purpose, these small differences make every stay special.

Let me give you an example; when I visited Japan, I stayed in a traditional ryokan. Unlike Western hotels, the ryokan focused on cultural authenticity.

We slept on tatami mats and futons instead of beds, and were served kaiseki dinners in our rooms by staff in traditional kimonos. The ryokan also had an onsen (hot spring bath), which is rare in hotels here. This experience showed the unique mix of local customs and hospitality, making it a memorable stay.
