IELTS Speaking Practice Sample Answer

I'd like to tell you about my younger sister's bedroom, which is right next to mine upstairs. It's quite different from the rest of our house because she's really made it her own space. It's a medium-sized room with this gorgeous bay window that lets in loads of morning sun – I'm actually a bit jealous of that feature!

She's painted the walls this soft sage green color, which works perfectly with all the plants she keeps on her windowsill. I remember helping her paint it last summer – we made such a mess and ended up with more paint on ourselves than the walls at first! The room has wooden flooring with this fluffy cream-colored rug that she picked up at a vintage market.

Her furniture is pretty simple but well-organized. There's a double bed with what seems like a million cushions, a wooden desk where she does her artwork, and these floating shelves that hold all her books and art supplies. She's also got this old armchair in the corner that she restored herself – it's become everyone's favorite spot to sit and chat.

What I really love about her room is how she's decorated it with her own artwork and photos. She's got this whole gallery wall of family pictures and her own paintings, and it just feels so personal and warm. The only thing I'm not too keen on is how messy it can get – she's got this habit of leaving her art supplies everywhere when she's in the middle of a project!

I actually spend quite a bit of time in there, especially on weekend mornings. We have this little tradition where we'll sit on her bed, drink coffee, and just talk about everything and nothing. It's probably one of my favorite places in the house because of those moments.
