IELTS Speaking Topics March

Part 1

  • Where is your hometown located in your country?
  • How long have you been staying there?
  • What interesting things can you do there?
  • Do you prefer reading about the news online or in a newspaper?
  • What sort of news interests you the most? (world, regional, local, etc.)
  • Have you ever considered becoming a news reporter?
  • How do you normally manage your time each day?
  • Would you say your time management skills are good?
  • Do you think that people were more punctual in the past compared with how they are nowadays?

Part 2

Describe a business person you admire

You should say:
  • why you admire him/her
  • where he/she lives
  • how he/she achieved their success
and explain what you consider their best quality to be.

Part 3

  • How important is reputation for companies nowadays?
  • Do you think that potential employees are attracted more by companies with a good reputation? Why? Why not?
  • Which type of business in your country attracts the attention of young people most?
  • Business people have a reputation for being hard-hearted in their jobs; why do you think this might be?
  • Would you consider a future career in business? Why? Why not?
  • In your opinion, what is it that attracts people to become business entrepreneurs or corporate executives?

Talk about a time when you were extremely busy

You should say:
  • What you were doing
  • How you dealt with being busy
  • If you would have preferred to not be so busy
And explain how you felt afterward.

  • How important is it to manage your time effectively?
  • What are some of the techniques that people use to manage their time?
  • Do you think that these techniques are effective?
  • Is there anything you would like to change about the way you manage your time?
  • How can people manage their time better? What thing can they do?
  • What do you think are the benefits of managing your time effectively?
  • What do you think are the consequences of not managing your time effectively?

Part 1

  • Are you studying or working?
  • What do you like to do in your free time?
  • What kind of music do you like?

Part 2 - Cue Card

Talk about a business you know well.
You should say:
- what business it is
- how you know about it
- what kind of products or services it provides
And explain why you think this business is successful.

  • How difficult is it for someone to start their own business in your country?

Part 2 - Cue Card

Talk about a time when you had to make an important decision.
You should say:
- What it was
- What factors influenced your choice
- How you felt after making the decision
And say if you make the same decision again.

Making Decisions

  • How do people usually make difficult decisions?
  • Are there any tools or techniques people can use to help make difficult decisions?
  • Do you think there's a right or wrong way to make difficult decisions?

Consequences of Decisions

  • Do you think all decisions have consequences? Why or why not?
  • Do people usually consider all the possible consequences of their decisions before making them?
  • How do you think people should handle the consequences of their decisions, especially if they're not happy with them?
  • Can you think of any examples where somebody made a bad decision and suffered the consequences?

Group Decisions

  • When making decisions as a group, is it important to come to a consensus? Why or why not?
  • What are some of the things people need to consider when making decisions as a group?
  • Do you think groups are more or less likely to make good decisions than individuals? Why?
