Why do some adults dislike reading?
I’ve always loved reading. As a kid, I would go to the library and check out as many books as I could carry. I would read all kinds of books, from fiction to non-fiction, and I was never without a book. These days, however, I find that I don’t read as much as I used to. In fact, I know a lot of adults who don’t read at all. So why is that? Why do some adults dislike reading?
One reason why some adults may dislike reading is that they never developed a love for reading when they were younger. Maybe they didn’t have access to books when they were growing up, or maybe they just weren’t interested in reading. Whatever the reason, if you didn’t develop a love for reading when you were younger, it can be hard to start reading as an adult.
Another reason why some adults may dislike reading is that they find it difficult to find time to read. When you’re an adult, there are a million and one things vying for your attention—work, family, friends, hobbies, etc. It can be tough to find time to sit down with a book when there are so many other things going on in your life.
The last reason why some adults may dislike reading is that they struggle with comprehending what they read. This can be especially true if you didn’t do a lot of reading when you were younger. If you don’t have much practice reading, it can be difficult to understand what you’re reading and follow along with the story.
So, there are several reasons why some adults dislike reading. Maybe they didn’t develop a love for reading when they were younger, or maybe they find it difficult to find time to read with their busy schedules. Others may struggle with comprehending what they read. Whatever the reason, if you want to start reading as an adult, it’s important to find something that you enjoy and make time for it in your schedule.
