Questions about Credit Cards - Spending - Money

Credit Card Questions and Answers Do you use a credit card to buy things? Yeah, I often use a credit card for my shopping, mostly because it's convenient and comes with some cool perks. With a credit card, it's easier to keep an eye on what I'm spending, since all my transactions are recorded digitally, which really helps with budgeting. Plus, the rewards are great – who doesn't love getting cashback or points for flights? But I'm super careful with it, making sure to pay off the full amount each month so I don't get hit with interest charges and my credit score stays healthy. This way, I get to enjoy all the benefits without the worry of debt. Are credit cards used very much in your country? Yes, they’re common now; most people who are working have at least one or two of them. People mainly use them in stores to pay for goods and for online shopping, but that’s not as popular here as in some other countries. What changes have resulted from the ...

Why Do Some Companies Have Uniforms for Their Employees?

IELTS Speaking Part 3 | Uniforms Why do some companies ask their staff to wear uniforms? There might be various reasons… for example, to help build a sense of belonging and teamwork among the employees. Wearing a uniform can help employees identify with the company and feel valuable. It could also be simply due to the need to protect employees own clothes from being damaged while working, for example while working on a production line in a factory. Another reason might be to identify the employees of the company to clients or customers so that they know who they are, for example in a large store, or employees who need to visit a client’s business premises to carry out maintenance or repairs or some other technical function. It helps in terms of security, allowing others to recognize that the person wearing the uniform is a visitor to the business premises or manufacturing plant. So I suppose companies have uniforms for employees for practical purposes; because employees do ...

When you were a child, how did you spend your weekends?

Speaking Topics: Weekends When you were a child, how did you spend your weekends? When I was a young child I used to spend most weekends at home with my parents, and sometimes we would go out and visit people or go shopping. As I got older I used to spend more time with my friends and away from home, doing sports. On Saturday mornings I used to play in a sports team for my school and so we would travel to another location to compete and then return later in the afternoon. Sundays would typically be more relaxed, although I’d often go to see my friend, who lived quite close by, and spend a lot of time at her house. I guess that was a typical weekend until I left school - and then things changed.

IELTS Speaking | What is the most difficult kind of letter or email to write?

What kind of letter or email do you think is the hardest to write? It would probably have to be the kind that is complaining about something. That’s quite difficult because you want the person reading it to take your complaint seriously without seeming rude or offensive to them – no matter how serious it might be, you might want to shout at them if they were in front of you, so it’s a case of choosing the exact language you use very carefully, setting the correct tone while being firm and clear about what you expect to happen. I suppose some people might say that writing to inform someone of bad news, like a death in the family or something similar would be more difficult. But I would never just write a letter or an email if it was a personal matter like that. I would call the person in question and tell them directly, even though it’s probably the hardest thing anyone has to do, especially if it’s to inform someone that a person close to them has died. It’s not something that sho...

Sample Answer - A skill you want to learn I’d really like to learn how to trade online, it’s something I’ve heard a lot about and I have a friend who has been doing it for some time now and he seems to be quite good at it – he makes money nearly every month – which he’s very happy about. There seem to be various ways of doing it and when I say trading, I suppose I mean all kinds of buying and selling of stocks and options online. Questions about Changes - Do younger or older people adapt more easily to changes?

IELTS Speaking Part 3 - Changes Who is more prone to change: younger or older people? Why? It’s probably older people because they may have been accustomed to doing things in a certain way and then have to, or choose to, adopt a new way of doing things. Let me give you an example; online shopping is something that many younger people have simply grown up with as a fact of life – they can’t remember a time when you couldn’t shop online. However, many older people did their shopping the traditional way before e-commerce and business internet services became really popular, so it’s the older people who have had to change their shopping habits and not the younger people. Who is more adaptable to changes: younger or older people? Nowadays, it’s probably not a question of age, it depends more on the individual person. Older people are still very adaptable and although they might not be interested in some of the things that younger are crazy about or use, they still have the ab...
