IELTS Speaking | Do you think it is better to apply for a job by letter or by email?

IELTS Part 3 Questions about letters Do you think it is better to apply for a job by letter or by email? (Why?/Why not?) Personally, I prefer to send an email, but which is better? Well, the easy answer would depend on what it says on the job vacancy – if it asks you to send your resume and covering letter by email, or even upload it to their site, then that’s the best way to apply. On the other hand, if the company or agency asks you to mail your resume and covering letter, then clearly that’s the best way. Really, I think nowadays most recruitment professionals expect to receive resumes and applicant details by email rather than in hard copy. Next Question

IELTS Speaking Part 3 Emails Advantages & Disadvantages

IELTS Speaking Test Part 3 Questions What are the advantages and disadvantages of emails, compared to handwritten letters? Okay, let’s talk about the advantages first; they’re quicker to write, send and they arrive instantly in the inbox of the recipient. You don’t have to buy paper, you don’t have to buy an envelope, you don’t have to buy a stamp, and you don’t have to go to the mail box or post office to send it. Emails are fast, free and environmentally friendly (because there’s no transport involved). As for disadvantages – I can’t think of any. However, obviously to send an email to someone, the other person must have a computer to be able to receive it. That’s about the only limitation. Handwritten letters waste paper, time and money, it’s so old fashioned and outdated, even though some people might consider a letter to be more personal; that’s just my personal opinion, letters are so wasteful.

IELTS Speaking | What is the most difficult kind of letter or email to write?

What kind of letter or email do you think is the hardest to write? It would probably have to be the kind that is complaining about something. That’s quite difficult because you want the person reading it to take your complaint seriously without seeming rude or offensive to them – no matter how serious it might be, you might want to shout at them if they were in front of you, so it’s a case of choosing the exact language you use very carefully, setting the correct tone while being firm and clear about what you expect to happen. I suppose some people might say that writing to inform someone of bad news, like a death in the family or something similar would be more difficult. But I would never just write a letter or an email if it was a personal matter like that. I would call the person in question and tell them directly, even though it’s probably the hardest thing anyone has to do, especially if it’s to inform someone that a person close to them has died. It’s not something that sho...

Do many people in your country write emails?

IELTS Speaking Emails Do many people in your country write emails? (What proportion of people use emails?) IELTS Speaking Test Part 3 Questions Yes, I think you could say almost everyone uses email, even if some people might only use it now and again. As for writing emails, well, I suppose that would include just writing a short message to a friend and longer emails. Honestly, the only people who wouldn’t write emails regularly would be the older generation. But most of them use it sometimes. For example, my grandmother is 80, and she writes to her family using email, so I guess the proportion of the population which doesn’t use email would be very small. Is sending emails popular in your country? There is no one-size-fits-all answer to this question, as the popularity of email varies from country to country. However, in general, email is still a very popular way to communicate with friends and family around the world. For example, according to a recent stud...

Some people use it to chat, as an alternative to messaging platforms, or using other social media. And there are other applications related to business.
