Describe An Activity You Do...

Describe an activity you do...

What is the best way to describe an activity for the speaking test in English?

The first thing you should do is brainstorm a few ideas of what you could say about each activity. You can also use some specific vocabulary and phrases that are likely to come up during the speaking test:

  • "It was so much fun!"
  • "We spent most of our time..."
  • "I loved how we..."
  • "It was really hard but I liked that aspect of it."

The following list of phrases should also be very helpful to you:

  • "This is what the activity was like."
  • "Before the activity started...,"
  • "One thing I didn't enjoy about this activity was...,"
  • "But by the end of the activity ....",
  • "In the future, I would like to try...."

After you've decided on your description and practiced it a few times, make sure that it's between one to two minutes long and interesting. It should also be filled with good vocabulary words!

Finally, remember to speak clearly so that the examiner can understand what you say.

Describe an activity you do to stay healthy

I do exercise regularly, usually a few times a week. Sometimes I'll swim laps, do some weightlifting, or take an aerobics class.

I usually try to exercise for about 30 minutes each time - unless work gets in the way and then it might have to be shorter! What I love about doing exercise is that it's a great way to feel more energized and healthier.

Sometimes I'll go for walks or bike rides, too. Walking is a good way to stay in shape because you can do it almost anywhere! I try not to make working out boring by changing up what I'm doing often - plus who doesn't love being outside?

In the future I'd like to try hiking, skiing and snowboarding.I really like doing things that I don't do often because it makes me feel accomplished!

What I don't like about exercising sometimes is that I find it difficult to stay motivated if there's no clear goal or end point. Exercising is a lot of work and sometimes takes time, so that can be frustrating too!

What I've found helpful for staying motivated is setting deadlines for myself - if I know that I have to finish a certain goal by the end of the week, it makes me want to work harder.

When I exercise, I feel stronger and more energetic, plus I sleep better! I'm happy to say that I've noticed a real difference in my mood when exercising regularly.

Exercising is one of the best things you can do for your mental health; it's great exercise and an effective stress reliever too. In addition to being healthy, there are tons of other benefits to exercising on a regular basis.

You'll notice that you're more productive at work, and have greater ability to focus in the day-to-day grind! Regular exercise has been shown to increase productivity by up to 50%. You can also expect improved sleep quality, better moods, lowered blood pressure - all of these are reasons why I try to do some exercise regularly.

Describe an activity that is a little expensive

Most of us enjoy spending money, but there are some expenses that we would rather not spend a lot on. I'm talking about the things you need to get by in life - food, shelter, and clothing.

There are also activities that can be a little expensive depending on how much time you want to dedicate to them. For example, if you like playing golf or taking guitar lessons - two hobbies which require quite a bit of time to learn - then these might be considered "a little expensive."

Personally, I love eating Crème Brulee at a French restaurant - typically $12 per person. You can make Crème Brulee at home for about $2 in ingredients, but it's nowhere near as good with the rich vanilla custard texture.

Normally, I go with my friends to a nice high-end restaurant because it's not something that has crossed over into fast-food culture yet and is usually served only in fine dining restaurants.

It doesn't really have any health benefits, but it tastes excellent and your brain gets rewarded with dopamine for eating it! The anticipation leads to an endorphin rush when you get your serving of Crème Brulee.

Eating Crème Brulee is a little expensive because it's a treat that is typically enjoyed on the weekends as part of a date night or with friends.

I think what made it so good for me was the contrast between the creamy texture and burned sugar crust. The sweet creaminess complemented by crunchy burnt sugar flakes just satisfied all of my taste buds (and yes, I instantly fell in love with it and it became my favorite comfort food!)

I remember when I was a child, my mother would make Crème Brulee. It was often served after a big family dinner and it always made me feel like we had accomplished something special that day.

Nowadays, I guess we probably go to eat it a couple of times a year, but it's usually on special occasions. Is it still my favorite food? Yes, I still love it, and I recommend everyone to try it too!

Even though it's a little expensive, it's an incredible dessert because of the sugary top and creamy custard-like in-between. It has many flavors, such as vanilla bean, chocolate, pistachio, or cardamom (depending on which flavor Crème Brulee), so there are many options for people to try.

Describe an activity you enjoy doing occasionally that is a bit expensive

I enjoy going to the movies once in a while. It's an expensive hobby, but it's one that I don't think many people can resist spending money on from time to time. The experience is just so enjoyable and relaxing, even if you don't have anything else planned for that day!

And who knows? You might find yourself enjoying a movie you see there more than at other theaters - because theater seats are designed for comfort, sound quality, and convenience (and all those things matter). Maybe your home theater setup could be outdated or inadequate in those areas. So if nothing else, seeing films in theaters is still worth it just for this reason!

Other things I like about going to the movies include being able to immerse myself in a story for an extended time. I don't have to worry about being distracted by my surroundings - whether it's the noise around me or trying not to annoy people with how I'm reacting to what's happening on-screen. That's why theater seating is so great!

You can sit back and enjoy yourself without having to worry about where you're sitting or anyone looking at you because all eyes are forward.

You've probably heard these arguments before, but there are still some skeptics out there who think seeing movies in theaters isn't worth the extra money. Luckily for those people, watching films at home has never been more accessible than it is today.
