Sample Candidate Response

I've always wanted to try scuba diving. The underwater world fascinates me, and exploring vibrant coral reefs and marine life up close sounds super exciting. When I was younger, I watched documentaries about the Great Barrier Reef and was mesmerized by the colorful fish and coral formations. The tranquillity and weightlessness that divers talk about sound really interesting.

Scuba diving also appeals to me because it’s a physical challenge and a way to connect with nature. I love new experiences and pushing my limits, and scuba diving seems perfect for that. I can imagine descending into the depths and entering a different world—it would be both humbling and thrilling.

Friends who have tried scuba diving have shared amazing stories, and their experiences only make me more excited. One friend said it felt like flying underwater, surrounded by colors and the gentle sounds of the ocean. I can't wait to feel that awe and wonder myself.

There are several places on my bucket list where I want to try scuba diving. The Maldives, with its clear waters and rich marine life, looks like an underwater paradise. Raja Ampat in Indonesia, known for its biodiversity, seems like a great place to see rare species and pristine coral reefs. The Red Sea in Egypt, famous for its underwater landscapes and shipwrecks, is another dream spot where I can mix my love for history with diving.

To make this dream come true, I plan to take a certified scuba diving course. Many friends have recommended the PADI Open Water Diver course, which teaches the skills needed for safe and fun diving. The course includes both classroom lessons and practical dives in a controlled setting, helping to build my confidence. Once certified, I’d like to start with local dive spots before going overseas.

Besides the excitement of exploring new worlds, scuba diving also shows the importance of marine conservation. Seeing the underwater ecosystem up close would deepen my appreciation for the ocean and push me to protect it. It’s about enjoying adventure while gaining a better understanding and respect for our planet's aquatic life.

So scuba diving is a new sport or hobby I would like to take up.

Rounding-off question:

Do you think it's important for people to try new things? (Why? Why not?)

Yes, I think it's important for people to try new things. New activities can expand our views, help us grow, and give us a sense of achievement. They push us out of our comfort zones, help us face fears, and lead to a more fulfilling life.
