IELTS Part 3 Questions about letters
Why do some people write letters to newspapers?
That’s an interesting question, but I’m not really sure why they would do it – it’s not something I’ve ever done. I guess they might feel strongly about a particular issue or want to voice a complaint about something which is directly affecting them or a cause that they are passionate about.
I suppose if you compare it to people commenting on social media or blogs then it’s not such a strange way to state your opinion – it’s just takes a lot more time and effort, because you have to write the letter and then wait for it to be published – I’m guessing that it’s mainly older people who would write letters to a newspaper.
